How it works
What it does
In Single Spot mode, you can pinch the preview to magnify. The magnification helps you see small details and meter them accurately. Pinching in zooms in, pinching out zooms back out. The meter keeps working while you zoom.
Zoom behaviors
The app offers five zoom-behavior presets: Minimal Pinch (smallest zoom range, easiest control), Zoom Assist Mode (follows the camera's native zoom feel), and others. Each preset changes how much the preview zooms per pinch gesture and how the crop tracks your finger.
When to use it
When you need to meter a small feature that is hard to isolate on the full preview. Examples: a single hair lit by backlighting, the brightest highlight on a small ornament, a distant detail in a landscape.
How it affects metering
The AE region (the small area being metered) stays centered on the preview and stays roughly the same size. As you zoom in, the region represents a smaller area in real space. Zoom out and the region represents a larger area again. This lets you isolate or widen your reading as needed.
Trade-off: crops and quality
Zooming in crops the preview. At high zoom levels the preview may look soft or posterized because the camera is delivering a smaller image. Most shooting is done at or near 1x zoom for the sharpest preview.
