Summary
In Multi-Spot metering mode, tap up to 9 spots on the preview. The app averages the EV values and shows the composite reading. Each spot is tracked separately and shown on the preview.
Detail
How it works
What it does
Switch to Multi-Spot mode. Tap the first spot (e.g., a shadow) and it records an EV reading. Tap a second spot (e.g., a midtone) and it records another EV. Tap up to nine spots total. The meter then averages all the EVs and shows you the composite exposure.
When to use it
Pre-visualization: measure the key shadow, key midtone, and key highlight in your scene. The average EV tells you a reasonable overall exposure. Or use it for averaging repeating patterns (a field of white flowers, a crowd of faces) to get an average reflectance.
Editing spots
Each spot appears as a small chip or marker on the preview. Tap the spot again (or long-press it, depending on UI) to remove it and recalculate the average. The final exposure updates in real time as you add or remove spots.
Spot limit
The app accepts up to 9 spots. After the ninth spot you cannot add more without removing one. This limit keeps the UI readable on the small preview.
Pairing with bias
Use the Protect Shadows / Protect Highlights bias toggle (2.9) to shift the average toward shadow or highlight detail when needed.
