20.1 Partial Section 20: AR Focus Aids

Full hyperfocal tied to gear profile

Hyperfocal math is shipping; the gear-profile linkage is partial.

Where to find it

Tools tab Depth of Field

Summary

The hyperfocal and depth-of-field math is in place (see CSV row 5.11a). Linking it to the saved gear profile so it reads circle of confusion and aperture range from the active equipment is partial.

How it works

What is shipping today

The Depth of Field calculator computes hyperfocal distance, near and far limits, and circle of confusion correctly for any aperture, focal length, and subject distance you punch in. The format-specific circle of confusion (35mm, medium format, large format) is set automatically from the film format you choose.

Current limitation

When you switch active equipment in the gear profile, the calculator does not yet auto-pull the new focal length and aperture range. You have to re-enter those manually in the calculator, which is a friction point if you swap lenses mid-session.

What's planned

Bind the calculator's lens and aperture inputs to the active equipment profile so changing lenses on the main UI updates the calculator's defaults in real time. No new math; just plumbing the existing values through.

Implementation notes (for developers)
Math done; not fully linked to saved gear profile yet.
