Spot metering
Also called: spot meter
A reading taken from a small, precisely-targeted area in the scene.
Spot metering reads only a small circle in the frame, often around one degree of angle. It is the most precise way to read a specific tone (a face, the brightest cloud, the deepest shadow) and the basis of the zone system workflow. The app's zoom spot lets you tap to choose the exact spot and shows the reading for just that pixel cluster.
